NETWORK CULTIVATION

Who

We specialize in supporting those working to form a new network, amplify an existing network, or reignite a stalled network. Even if you're not using the term, "network," this service is appropriate for anyone seeking to cohere multi-stakeholder groups around a shared purpose.

What

Network cultivation is the practice of intentionally convening and coordinating groups of individuals and/or organizations to connect, learn, and take collaborative action to advance a shared purpose. It is designed to create collaborations that are non-hierarchical, relationship-oriented, and open to emergent outcomes.

How

We use a deliberate process that supports participants to clarify a shared purpose, convene members of their system, cultivate trust, coordinate their existing work, and collaborate to create lasting impact over time.

NETWORK CULTIVATION
SERVICES

Our network cultivation engagements blend consultation and facilitation, tailored to the specific stage of your network or collaboration’s development.

While every engagement is unique, you can typically expect:

  • Collaborative Process Design – co-creating a tailored approach with a representative individual or Design Team.

  • Facilitated Listening Sessions – engaging participants to gather insights that shape the network’s design and direction.

  • Practical Tools & Insights – providing content and frameworks on impact networks to strengthen your collaborative efforts.

  • Convening Design & Facilitation – designing and guiding a network convening, either virtually or in person, to foster connection and alignment.

  • Strategic Documentation – delivering key materials such as a network charter, participation agreements, and/or a convening summary that captures key decisions and next steps.

Engineering for One Planet Network Formation

We partnered with the Lemelson Foundation to catalyze, launch, and coordinate the Engineering for One Planet (EOP) Network. Over the course of 3 years, our team provided comprehensive support including:

  • Designing and facilitating the process to catalyze and launch the EOP Network

  • Designing and facilitating multiple full network convenings

  • Coordinating the network on an interim basis

  • Hiring and onboarding the network's first coordinator

  • Developing foundational network documents
  • Delivering custom network essentials trainings

  • Administering a social network analysis (SNA) and additional network health assessment protocols

  • Providing SNA training to the network coordinator

Client Experiences:

“Amelia is one of the most talented people I have worked with. An entrepreneurial leader and systems thinker adept at integrating both business and mission imperatives, Amelia has a rare combination of skills. I am especially impressed with her ability to move people to think and act differently, advancing individuals and business objectives forward for collective good. Amelia is a visionary who sees fresh possibilities, but she is also a true impact-driven entrepreneur who is able to get the hard work done. I am always plotting ways to work with her again and cannot recommend her highly enough.”

"Having Amelia support me was like being supported by an old friend. She empathized with my confusion and sense of overwhelm, and made me feel comfortable diving in and experimenting. Before I knew it, I was up and running and discovering all new bells and whistles to enhance my network maps."

— Victoria Matthews

Transport Decarbonisation Alliance Cultivation

We supported the Transport Decarbonisation Alliance (TDA) in developing new systems, structures, and a governance model that aligns with its recently updated value proposition and member goals for the future of the network. Our team designed and facilitated a process to engage members through a series of advisory meetings, customized workshops, listening sessions, and a multi-day in-person convening in Porto, Portugal. Following the convening, we provided advisory support to the coordination team. Throughout the engagement, we developed a series of documents including:

  • Drafting participation agreements

  • Developing a refined charter

  • Synthesizing process outcomes into a comprehensive written summary

Writing samples are available upon request.

The Transport Decarbonisation Alliance is a network of diverse governments, companies, and organizations collaborating to achieve equitable and sustainable zero-emission movement of people and goods well before 2050.

Client Experiences:

“I feel really optimistic. You don’t get many opportunities to shape the coalition that you’re part of. Being able to actively think through what we want to be and what we want to get out of this is exciting, and it’s a conversation most coalitions don’t have.”

"Amelia is an excellent resource with deep expertise in the methodologies for building trust and transparency needed for true collaboration. I was deeply impressed by her reflections and her ability to capture complex discussions and concepts in concise and compelling written materials. Moreover, she put me, my colleagues, and our members at ease with her kindness and warmth. I learned a great deal about impact network theory and building effective group buy-in from my time working with Amelia, lessons that I will apply for years to come. I cannot recommend her highly enough!"
