"Brilliant is not a strong enough adjective for Amelia. Leaders selflessly empower others. Amelia’s leadership is exceptional because you don’t even know you’re following her when it happens. Her ability to connect, see, and empower the unseen within a group dynamic is one of her primary superpowers."

Mike Tedesco

Former Executive Director,

"Amelia is one of the most talented people I have worked with. An entrepreneurial leader and systems thinker adept at integrating both business and mission imperatives, Amelia has a rare combination of skills. I am especially impressed with her ability to move people to think and act differently, advancing individuals and business objectives forward for collective good. Deeply committed to improving lives and constantly reaching for greater positive impact, Amelia is also humble, funny, kind and thoughtful. I am always plotting ways to work with her again and cannot recommend her highly enough."

Amelia is a visionary who sees fresh possibilities, but she is also a true impact-driven entrepreneur who is able to get the hard work done of making amazing things happen where only gaps and problems existed before. Deeply committed to improving lives and constantly reaching for greater positive impact, Amelia is also humble, funny, kind and thoughtful.

HBCU STEM Undergraduate Success Research Center Convening & Collaborative Writing Process

We designed and facilitated a process to engage leaders from a variety of Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs), in conversations to explore and highlight impactful academic interventions in STEM education. An important goal of the convening was to seed a collaborative writing process that would ultimately lead to an edited volume co-authored by participants. The purpose of the edited volume is to highlight a selection of essential components of highly impactful academic interventions for undergraduate STEM students at HBCUs. During the convening, participants ideated on the content of the edited volume and proposed chapters to write together.

Our support included:

  • Forming a Design Team of partners from the HBCU STEM-US Center

  • Facilitating listening sessions with academic leaders across the U.S. to gather insights

  • Synthesizing insights into a conversation primer to enhance discussions at the in-person convening.

  • Designing and facilitating a 3-day convening

  • Drafting a convening summary to support participants' ongoing writing process

View the convening program here.

This process was hosted by the HBCU STEM-US Center, whose mission is to understand and tell the stories of HBCUs through convergence research for us, and the nation; thereby, creating a national legacy of excellence in STEM education at HBCUs.
